First Two Days World Cup France

The World Cup Series in France that was held from 23rd to 30th April 2017 was a good start for many as the weather offered steady breeze and other favorable conditions for sailing.


While the winners of the RS: X fleet for men and women were able to make a good start on the initial days, in case of 49er the scores were mixed. Here the contingent that came in South America led the way. The team of brothers from Argentina, Klaus Lange and Yago led the scores on the leader board as well as Stu Bithell and Dylan Fletcher-Scott from GBR who were winners of the recent World Cup Miami event.

In the Laser fleet of 60 boats, Pavlos Kontides of CYP was a winner who aced the race in the first two days. Kontides was able to gain advantage of his position as well as boa speed that enabled him to maintain leading position. Others who were close competitors were Tom Burton, the Rio Olympic champion as well as Nick Thompson from GBR.

The Laser Radial category saw strong results posted by Evi Van Acker from BEL as she put in her bid to defend the crown that she had earlier obtained at Hyeres. She was able to gain advantage of eight points over her opponent from LTU, Viktorija Andrulyte. These were mainly the results of the first two days of the races. Others like Damien Seguin from FRA of Paralympic fame was able to get off with a flying start. He has always thrived in this event and has won gold about six times and hence, this was his seventh title win. The Nacra 17 category saw Moana Vaireaux along with Manon Audinet dominate the scoreboard. These were the results as of the first two days of the races and it promised an exciting week ahead for the spectators and fans that had come from all over to witness the events.
